Received email yesterday afternoon saying Yodel had tried to deliver a package at 14.05 which I found strange as I had been in since 13.00 so having placed an order with Macc on Thursday with 3-4 day delivery is it a scam or was it my package ? After some detective work checked my ring door bell no alert to back that up reviewed CCTV which proved no one had been to my door so treated the email as you do with a scam.

My package arrived this morning bright and early smiley

I had that a few weeks ago, the sender had tagged the wrong tracking info to my parcel.

Part of the current problem is that in order to avoid Covid contamination most delivery firms are not putting notes through letterboxes, instead relying on email, SMS etc. Leaves space for the scammers to step into making your yes/no situation understandable. I would expect a genuine email to have some detail regarding the package details that a general scam email would not.

Comments about Yodel aside the chap who delivers to me is OK like this morning it was quite early when he came and I was in the bathroom so I looked through bedroom window tell him I'll be down he said he could get it it the letterbox job done so I returned to making myself presentable wink

Am I being thick? (no need to answer) but I don't see what the scam would be. What would be the advantage to the scammer?

Presumably, were one to respond, the opportunity to scam the individual is clearly a possibility.

                    .

The link that I posted on the other thread, this morning [to the Wired article] describes one scenario:

That was SMS based … but the scammer scum will try anything.

It was probably a genuine mistake as Dave Halford thinks.
