        Thanks again, also interesting. The ILU connector looks neat in that it will hide the excess fibre and avoid the usual comms rats nest. My previous experience with optical has been limited to building comms racks at work from off the shelf components, not had to design a solution for myself yet.

        I don’t live in remote location with unreliable power and poor mobile coverage, if I did I think I’d have bought a chunky whole house battery with offline (UPS) capability by now but that’s OTT just to keep a phone going. I do somewhere have a cable that allows me to power my current ADSL master router from a car battery which I have used once in the last decade or so when we had an outage lasting more than a few minutes but only really to see if it worked.

        On checking, I have 6 months remaining with current provider so still some procrastination time available.

          Our street has full fibre from two sources one of which I opted for at 500Mb.  Dopped BT a couple of years ago as I dont use the land line, mobile is enough.
