A walk up the valley towards the remains of the Malpasset dam near Frejus is tragically impressive.

Feel the quartz laden rock into which the dam was built and people like 'us' could predict what would happen.

I read the book, half the experts said ,"No".

Could it happen here? Yes! Plenty of opportunity for gigantic rock slides in the seas around Britain. It's occurred before.

Britain and Europe were once connected by a boggy low lying area about the size of Wales called Doggerland. The Thames joined the Rhine there on it's way to the sea. Theory is, Doggerland was gradually submerged by rising sea-levels until the Storegga Slide finished the job about 6000 years ago by gouging out the English Channel with a tsunami. In 1607 significant damage was done in the Bristol Channel by either a tsunami caused by an underwater earthquake off Ireland, or a storm surge. I hear big money has been spent on the sea-wall protecting Hinckley C!

What's under the Azores is a risk to the entire Eastern seaboard of the USA. Scary stuff!

              What goes up….

You can't really predict these things either, geological stuff has such huge variance compared to human insects

…and the usual "climate change" cult reference is inserted into the article…

We had forests at the North and South pole when dinosaurs were plodding about

                Yes that's correct

Half the South Pole was Australia and the North Pole was ocean and we were between North America and Europe

I remember those days well, a real pain trying to find a car charging point , then we found an oil well……………and the rest is history.

Pedant alert Dave. La Palma is in the Canary Islands not the Azores.

                        I'm glad you said 'about'.

After much careful measurement and diligent fact-checking I have demonstrated that, despite daily media reports to the contrary, the only thing the size of Wales is, in fact, Wales.
