Square bar in a round hole

Well that worked well! I wanted to turn a round shaft on a piece of square bar and get fed up swapping chucks and clocking stuff. As luck would have it I had an ER32 collet chuck on the Lathe at the time and the piece of 1/2" black mild fitted nicely in one of the collets. It worked out pretty good so I'll do that again in preference to the four jaw if the jobs small enough.

You are guilty of mistreating a poor little collet, it will bite you later when it runs out of true!

I was gentle with it and then used it again for turning some round stuff and all seemed well.
