I’m currently dismantling the motor from my Aciera F3 mill. The Brown Boveri motor is fitted with a large 5-sheaved pulley unit which is in two sections. The outer 2 sheaves are mounted on the outer end of the shaft and are keyed to rotate with the motor. However, the inner 3 sheaves contain some sort of epicyclic device and rotate at half motor speed.
It was relatively easy to remove the outer pulley but I cannot see how to get the remaining assembly off the motor shaft. There were two very long grub screws sitting in the base of one of the sheaves. I removed these but this hasn’t helped. There doesn’t seem to be anything else to attack. So it’s probably a pulling job for which I might need to make or buy a tool to ensure I don’t damage the aluminium sheaves. But before I do this, I just wondered if anyone has seen such a device before, and/or knows the correct way to remove it from the motor?
This is the rotor and front end-cover with the two pulleys fitted.

This is with the outer pulley removed…
