Henry Greenly Model Engineering

HI All,

I was lucky enough to acquire a few old engineering texts and catalogues a while back. One of them was a 1920 reprint of the Henry Greenly Model engineering book. Very interesting book, covers a lot of subjects not all in great detail but is combined with dimensioned drawings that help out.

only problem is its missing part of the index. Would anyone know where I might find a copy of a complete index, without buying another copy of the book?

Is it on Google books? Just about everything else is and often you can print out a few pages.

Is it "Model Engineering – a guide to model workshop practice"? If so I have a facsimile reprint and can let you have jpegs of the index.

yes it is the Model Engineering – a guide to model workshop practice .

Didn't have much luck with google books, but Alan's link (thanks Alan) is actually to the 1919 reprint so is quite close to mine and has the same number of pages and cant see much difference and appears almost identical but must be some minor edits. Otherwise I sure it will be just fine.

Thanks for telling everyone that the book exists. How else would we know?

If I could just access the National Library of Australia's collection in the same way – from anywhere in the world – for free it would be fantastic!

I can read old Australian newspapers to find out about Australian old machinery I am restoring at:

https://trove.nla.gov.au/

But I cannot read the list of passengers on the ship my great grandfather came to Australia in the 1860's unless I go to Brisbane – on the other side of the continent – 3,600Km just to read a microfilm!

Thanks for the link. Looks like a good read. Its always nice to have a squiz online before buying a copy — amazingly it is still in print and quite reasonably priced from Book Depository etc.

I think it's out of copyright now, so anyone can reprint it

The original book had a pull out plan in a pocket, I have never seen it anywhere

trove is a great resource and great for finding advertisements for machinery, tools bikes, household or whatever it may be.

Sure they will keep adding to the digital library and keep digitising – though continual budget cuts never help.
