Hi,
first post !
I am trying to find a M5 prevailing locknut as in the pictures. I can find the regular suspects but the diameters are too large.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thank you
With a 7mm hex I would suggest getting an M4 one which is a standard 7mm hex and drilling & tapping it out to M5
Oh, what a clever idea, that is thinking outside the box.
However, it is a locking flange nut i.e. oval so I guess I couldnt do that on retain the oval at the top which locks the nut ?
Once the M4 on a round one has been enlarged just give it a good squeeze and it will become oval
I think these locknuts are referred to as 'Jetnuts' in the aircraft and racing car industries.
Lots of hits on Google but mostly USA suppliers and sellers. I know I have seen them in some UK catalogues.

Would be worth calling to check the hex size but these ones from Demon Tweaks look to have a small hex when compared to the hole.
@JasonB @Ian P
thats really amasing, I have just ordered the nuts off demontweaks, checked my email and read your post.
You are indeed correct.

Try theses people they have a good variety of flanged nuts that may well suit your requirement, usual disclaimer…
