Going from left to right – Triumph Herald 13/40 convertible, Austin Maxi Hi Line 1750, and then a rather rare Bertone styled Lancia Fulvia Coupe. Even rarer now as most of these resorted back to their base constituants i.e iron ore, 5 years after being manufactured.

I'd go for the Herald as the best car in that group!

              Yep, Lancia, typical Italian rubbish.

Oily rag – Somebody sold me a Lancia once (ex-friend), Magnificent engine, but the drivers door fell off – literally. Oh the joys of motoring whem you were young and naive!

That middle one only has 2 side windows, I thought maxis had 3

It looks continental to me, not a maxi, it looks too small to be a maxi

Thank you all, I've googled the Lancia and I can't find any pictures showing the 3 weird vent things above the filler cap. The badge on the side is quite prominent and and the wheels are distinctive too.

The middle car is not an Austin Maxi Hi-Line 1750. I don't know what it is, but after having had two Maxis, that ain't one of them. For a start, the Maxis were 5 door – the one in the photo is 3 doors.

                          Looks like a fiat 850.

The middle car is a Fiat 850, much smaller than a Maxi. The mystery car is much too big for a Fulvia, but is something along the lines of a Lamborghini 400GT – italian coachbuilt around 1964

The badge on the lower rear quarter is where the Pininfarina badge was put on the Fiat Coupe, which came from that factory so it may be one of theirs.

The Fiat 130 also had similar badging in the same place.

                              Ady ,

                              Correct on the Fiat 850

BTW, the Herald is a standard 12/50 – 13/60 came later with a different grille

Well at least I got the Herald correct! except for it being a 12/50rather than a 13/40. And kickstarted the identity parade.

What does the panel think the car is behind the Herald (far left – front just visible) – a Triumph 2000? I'm baffled as to the middle car – if it is a Fiat 850 why would anyone copy the Maxi styling? Or was it the other way around Austin Morris copied the Fiat?

I don't think the fourth car has enough detail – it might be a Lanicia Flaminia. The interesting thing on the mystery car is that it has alloy wheels, so although the styling is 1964/6, it must be a little later. It looks like Pininfarina to me, and possibly a variation on a Ferrari Superfast, if not a Lamboghinin 400GT. The porthole feature is unusual.

Blimey, don't know which was the most rusty.

the imaginary Maxi or the Fiat 850 in the picture😂

Headlights steer me towards Lamborghini, but there does not seem to be a match for the rest of the car.

You used to be able to but accessory vents like those in the rear quarter, but I can only remember them in sets of 6 all the same size. You could buy them from accessory shops and even from catalogues like Kays, John Noble etc etc but they usually ended up in the front wings of Consul 375s or early Zodiacs.

Still puzzled because something is soooh! familiar, but I just can't put my finger on it.

Tried to blow up the image to see what the logo on the wheel is but no joy there.

With a bit of help from the Pistonheads forum, I've found out what it is.

It's a 1969 Fiat 125S Samantha by Carrozzeria Vignale of Turin. 100 were made and only 27 RHD and most of them for a Cypriot Casino Owner!

No wonder nobody knew what it was!

I passed my test in my father's Herald in 67, three point turn was very easy with that amount of lock, great little engine but crap handling and the chassis rusted away in seven years.
