Calling all Apple Experts….

gave up with the fingerprint thingy…

was told by Apple products because of my job the skin patterns are changing..always cuts n tears…..

plus grime….hahaha….

we have "protect my bubble insurance" they just replaced my old iPad for a new one because SWMBO dropped it on a tiled floor…..it's the only claim we've had….

no idea on cost tho….prob excessive as per most ins……

Pressing the home button with anything other than my ‘fingerprint’ directs the user to press home button again … which then opens the login screen.

Ah, I perceive a difficulty. You presumably don't have a timer set to log you out after a period of inactivity (which I consider mandatory if you are taking the device along to public places). Mine would act the same in this case – one press of the home button would get you back.

If you do have the logoff timer set, it needs one press of the home button to wake up the device which then tells you to press it again to log on – by pin code in my case; presumably fingerprint in yours.

The fingerprint reader works fine on my iPad Pro 10.5” except if I’ve “damaged” my thumbprint by overdoing it in the workshop! Not a problem though as you can set an alternative. The lack of home button on the latest Pro series has put me off somewhat so if that policy continues I’d likely switch to the iPad Air when I want a new model. I’m suffering a bit with tennis elbow at the moment so I’ve had musings about getting a Mini.
