Yes Jason, and I’m not sure how they would perform in non ferrous either. I would imagine that the stones would probably load even with lubricant.

That appears to be a long bore BTW  – what’s it for

Its a cylinder liner for a vertical hit & miss, 1″ bore x 3 1/4″ long although the bit in the chuck makes it 3 3 /4″ , it just gave me something a bit more solid to hold the liner with so it was not distorted.

Build of teh whole engine can be seen here the liner is on the second page.

Yes clogging could well be a problem, even on CI they need paraffin to keep them clear.

I’m doinking this one back to the top to ask if anyone has any pictures of a delapena internal hone, like wot they made in the 1950s.

I notice that the external one has been copied for amateur use but can find nothing on the makeup of the internal set, which corrects a bore for both parallelism and circularity…so it sounds like a pretty darned useful bit of kit if it can be knocked up.

The sparey picture is pretty poor, showing what looks like a precision bored attachment fitted on the end of the workpiece bore, and a long pushrod extending to a floating handle, but nothing on the internal gubbins inside the workpiece.

You could try asking Dela-pena for details. If you click on any of teh tooling items you can just see some internal hones, look a bit like the stone is held in a similar way to an expanding reamer.
