Hi Again well just put Loco on air to try when i open regulator air comes out the firebox door can it be anything other thane the ait tube to regulator from back of the boiler failing !!

I can't think for the life of me how else you would get air into the firebox any thoughts please.

Hi all well after taking boiler out again found the welds on the super heater had failed. I had used some special rods for stainless to copper to weld the stainless spears on but after reaching temp they all failed.

At least i have found the problem and can move forward i am going to leave the super heater out this time make a new one using all stainless but just want to get it up and running for now.

Ron, what was the mode of failure? Melting? Cracking? ????

It melted the joints where I used the special Rpds for Stainless to copper complete fail.

I had re welded one with silver Solder that one is fine but thought I was doing the right thing buying from Polly as they suggested them £9 each
