Hi, I’m just in the middle of building my water tanks for my 5 in G in brass sheet. I intend to seal them when there built using soft solder. Is there another way of sealing them, IE water tank sealer paint or is the method using soft solder ok. Any ideas please.

Probably better to solder as you build not after. Tin all the mating surfaces and once all has been rivited together the joints can be sweated together. That is how I did the tenders on my two traction engines.

As Jason has said, tin the component parts then when assembled heat and solder to seal. Capiliary action will hold the solder in the joint. Noel.
