Nice one. 😊👍
Yep, TouchDRO is great. I have the Pre-built 420 plus adapter for my mill. I did think about the kit but whilst I can solder (mostly without singeing my knuckles 😄), and can get my head around electronics when I need to, it’s not something I particularly enjoy doing.
Yuriy (the creator) has a section on Hobby Machinist Forum, and is very helpful.
Unfortunately the poor bugger is finally (and quite rightly) losing patience with all the entitled idiots who whine every time he adds functionality to the pre-built adaptors (which is really where he makes his money), but doesn’t add those features to the DIY option, or demand support when they’ve built totally from scratch and downloaded the free firmware, thus not having given him a penny.
Now, you can get a DRO display from AliExpress that will be fine for most of us (especially for a lathe) that costs about £50, and you can get the cheaper of the scales that Yuriy says are fine, for about £150-250 from Sino’s official website (which is exactly what I’ve done with my 9×20 lathe), so building a DRO system with his pre-built adaptors isn’t the cheapest way to go.
However, his software is pretty function rich, and offers more than DROs twice the price.
