I have some dies which I would like to store in the little white round plastic containers. Does anyone know of a source for them. I have found containers to store my taps in so that I can have them in sets of three.

ebay have small plastic containers with clip on or screw on lids.

Otherwise make a custom, wooden box to store all of your taps, dies and holders like this one. (something that is on my “round-tuit)” list)

Supermarkets and kitchen shops sell small screw top plastic boxes. Some clip lock boxes can also be found in smaller sizes. Old 35mm film containers will store about 4 or 5 of the smaller dies.

Personally I avoid wood. I’ve seen too many old tools go rusty due to moisture in the wood. A much better alternative is a plastic box lined with closed cell foam. You can easily make the cutouts in the foam for the dies with a pipe. Even a piece of suitably sharpened plastic pipe will cut foam. Cheap sources of foam are things like gym mat tiles, often sold in Aldi/lidl.

Might be worth asking someone like Tracy Tools.

I think you are after the little white round boxes some individual dies come in. I expect that a manufacturer of the dies gets a few million to a custom design. However if you have a sample and photograph it then do a google image search you might find them.

The Tap And Die Company used to advertise taps and die sets in British-made boxes, so presumably they bought in foreign items, possibly in the boxes you want.  They were taken over by C R Tools in 2023.

Thank you all I will try some of the ideas you have put up. As for 3D printing I don’t have a printer as I just can’t justify buying one for the odd job that I would need it for.

But if you got one you would be surprised at the number of very odd jobs that it would come in handy for!!
