Sorry if this has been asked before, I can’t seem to find a search function on the forums, but does anyone have a Tormach 770MX particularly if you’re in Yorkshire, who maybe wouldn’t mind a curious newbie taking a look around and getting the lay of the land for an install. First time CNC machinist looking to make the move from 3D Prints into proper metal stuff.

Tormach themselves have a number of videos on YouTube covering the 770M machine, including one specifically on its installation.

We do have a few Tormach users/owners on the forum but from what I have seen posted none have the newer MX machines. Also a couple of Syil owners though at least one of those is not in the UK as an X5 may be another option

Steve Dunthorpe has (or at least had) one.

He wrote a book about it (Blirring the Edges)

I think he has posted here in the past, but it might have been on a different forum

I would also recommend Steve Dunthorpe’s book “Blurring the edges”. It does give a pretty good guide to installing and using a Tormach 770MX.

I have a Tormach 1100M which I bought about three years ago from CNC Machine Tools who are based in Snetterton in Norfolk. I think they are still UK agents for Tormach. The guy I dealt with was called Connor I think. I’ve put a link at the end of the message.

I have been very happy with my Tormach, it is a very capable machine, and having used a lot of CNC controllers over the years I have to say I really like Pathpilot. You are very welcome to have a look at it, but unfortunately I’m in Scotland (near Perth) so probably a bit far from Yorkshire.

I bought Steve Dunthorpe’s book and found it both interesting and helpful.

Albeit not in the manner Steve intended as I decided not to buy a Tormach. Its became pretty clear that I’d not be happy with it for various reasons. Nowt wrong with the machine. Just not the one for me.
