Rotary valve engine

Hi all

Here is a clip of my rotary valve steam engine, inspired by the River Queen plans. I made several changes, not least to the rotary valve design as in my mind the published plans only allow partial opening during the cycle.

Partial opening during the cycle is probably preferred especially for high speed running as it admits a burst of steam into the cylinder which is then allowed to expand doing work. Reduces steam consumption. Engines often have variable cutoff valve gear to optimise efficiency over a wide range of speeds.
