Maybe its just me but I can't see any earth connection on this motor.

If you have the slightest doubt (which apparently you do or you wouldn't be asking) then consult a registered electrician. Regulations state that any work is undertaken by a COMPETANT person – these regulations are there for a REASON.

You cannot see it, you cannot smell it ,you cannot hear it and by the time you feel it it may well be too late!

            Hi

Had a COMPETANT electrician come into the house showed me all his certs etc; threw him out of the house half way through his work and paid him up to that. got someone else in. So much for COMPETANT people. his major contract is for one of our high street banks. (god help them) So much for qualified, certified sparks.

Am a retired medical physicist who helped install the first MRI scanner in this country but I suppose in this day and age would not be deemed qualified to change a plug.

The earth on this motor is connected to one of the screws to the lid via a long screw that sets into the motor caseing. what seems to be missing is the safety cable connector that stops the cable being yanked out. and the cable should be multi stranded and round with a flexable outer. Certainly not the houseing cable as shown. And is going directly to the mains.

Please do yourself a big favour and contact one of the companies advertising in ME go for 3 phase variable speed ok costs money but you cannot spend it when something happens.

            Bob
