Hi all, does anyone know where I can get some plans on how to make a tool post jig for sharpening lathe tools on a bench grinder?

Hi Roy,

Harold Hall’s book is available from Amazon UK. The book I used was his “Milling, a complete course”, this shows a more advanced version of his Grinding Rest – a very versatile peice of equipment. Again available from Amazon.

I’ve made his advanced tool grinding rest and if you are willing to modify an inexpensive bench grinder and make a few attachments you can build a pretty fair tool and cutter grinder for a relatively small outlay.

I hope to publish a design in a Model Engineers’ Workshop Special at the end of July.

This will have other useful projects as well.
