Over the past month we have had emails and calls from some customers enquiring about availability of certain SIEG machines, and parts which are out of stock.

Due to coronavirus, it has been difficult to give a clear indication of future delivery times. Many SIEG distributors around the world have raised their own questions on this subject with SIEG. This has resulted in publication of a document on their website, link: A Letter to SIEG Customers

We hope that the letter will address some of the questions raised.

Thanks for posting, Ketan. Even for those with nothing on order, I'd guess many of us are grateful for any information from inside China as to the impact on working lives, the containment measures in force locally and the expected survival of viral contamination outside the body. Our own media give us only very vague and guarded information.

            Ketan,

Thank You for passing on to us the information, to keep us informed..

It is heartening to know that SIEG are in a lower risk area, and are taking sensible precautions.

Obviously, there are delays in delivery, but a price worth paying for the safety of the supplier's staff and everyone else along the line of transactions.

It reflects well on Sieg and on You for being transparent at this time.

            Howard

Anyone clicking the link, be careful. I just did & my bitdefender found a trojan virus in there. It quarantined the virus so just be careful if you do not have protection. Here is what it said.

Dunno if that arrived since this morning? I used the link then without any such message from my virus checker. Running a virus scan and reviewing any newly-installed software found nothing.

It won't open for me either. In FF I get:

                  "dial tcp4: lookup siegind.com on 127.0.0.1:53: server
                   misbehaving"

Not sure what's generating that … FF / AVG / ISP or even Windows.

                    Apologies,

I has no idea why the link fails to work on certain computers. I have just gone around and checked on IE, FF, Chrome on three different Windows 10 computers using three different ip addresses, all systems installed with Windows Security/Firewalls, as well as on Apple Safari workstation (dont know what to call it), ipad, and mobile iphone, all without any issue. However, as the site is only http rather than https, if anyone has any issues or concerns, they may wish to proceed with caution. I have also reported the issue to SIEG.

In the next post, I will paste below the contents of their letter.

Opened up OK with Firefox in a sandbox and looked at the offending Javascript without spotting anything obviously sinister in it.

Then ran the link through sitecheck.securi.net (an online website security checker), which reports the site has been Blacklisted by McAfee.

As Google, Norton, Securi Labs, ESET, PhishTank, Yandex, Opera and Spamhaus all give it a clean bill of health, I suspect it's a false positive.

                                The letter says:

                                Dear SIEG customers,

As we all know, China is currently facing the ravage of the coronavirus. After a period of hard work, the epidemic is under control to some extent.

Here is an update of our current situation:

                                1. Our factory is located in a low-risk area of Shanghai, less affected by the virus. Up to now, none of our employees and their families have been infected with the coronavirus.

                                2. After careful evaluation, we resumed our operations with effect from February 26, 2020.

                                3. We have put very strict disinfection and protection measures in place. Every employee needs to take his/her temperature every day, conduct the disinfection before entering the factory, and wear masks throughout the working day. All sites are disinfected twice a day to ensure a clean and safe production environment.

                                4. We have also requested all our suppliers to put the same measures in place to ensure the safety and protect of all concerned.

The protection measures we have put in place are based on guidance received from medical experts. Our understanding based on this guidance is that the virus is mainly transmitted from person to person through close direct contact and droplets, and that it is difficult for the virus to survive for more than 48 hours after outside the human body.

At the time of writing, it is also our understand that the WHO has issued a special notice stating that packages and cargo are not at risk of infection. To further support the WHOs notice, please see below a chart from a Chinese research institute which shows how long the virus can survive at certain temperatures, on various packing material.:

Keeping in mind that most of our production is exported, with average transit times of greater than 14 days, we hope that you will agree that we have taken appropriate measures to protect our team as well as our customers at the time of dispatch.

Due to the virus, the delivery time of our products will be extended. According to different models, the average delay will be between one to two months from the original schedule. Please accept our apology for this delay.

If you have new orders to be placed, we suggest you send them to us as early as possible, to enable us to coordinate with our suppliers. A small number of our suppliers are in the outbreak area, so it will take longer to resume normal production for certain items. We will do everything possible to catch up with the delay.

We value your custom, and we sincerely thank you for your concern, understanding and support during this period.

Let’s work together to create a better future!

                                Best Regards

There's also a graphic in Chinese about how long Coronavirus survives (max 48 hours on wood), and several photographs of precautions in the factory.

When I clicked the link & I got the virus warning from Bitdefender it did not block the site. It just blocked the part with the virus. So I was still able to look at the site . I take anything my virus tools tell me seriously & do not go round all the other virus checkers to verify mine is ok. It is ok & is always awarded best virus software available. But at a cost with a yearly sub.

I don't find a virus on that page but my blocker has found a tracker:

                                        https://app.singoo.cc/track.js

and also it's trying to install a widget:

Both of these contain a reference to .JS which Ketan might recognise?

I meant to add thanks to Ketan for posting that. I found it most interestin especially the table which I managed to make sense of with the aid of Google translate. The only part that didn't seem to make sense was two lines above wood which google translated as "<hand" giving a survival time of < 5 min.

I have brought these to SIEGs attention. They will be looking into this with their website provider.

Russell : I have just asked them if they can provide a translation for the whole table. They said that they will do this tomorrow. As soon as I have the information, I will post it on here.
