On saturday I helped an elderly gentleman with his shopping bags as he was struggling. We got talking on the bus and it turned out he had been a tinsmith at the same factory for 51 years.I told him of my interest in home engineering and he asked if I siver soldered.when I carried his bags to his home he invited me in and gave me 50 2' by 2mm silver solder sticks. These will certainly see me out. Just goes to show what can result from a good turn.
It’s surprising what some older folk have stashed away. I bought some brand new milling cutters for not much money at a car boot and the guy gave me a couple more to get rid of them.
This was my first question when i was shown how to solder flared ends onto copper tude for presure gauges on refrigeration test gauges . Why is this called silver solder when the colour is brass in colour Neverb did get a answer?
