      Hi Guys

Has anyone replaced the standard toolpost with a quick change version? i have contacted warco and they said they did one years ago but could not remember what was used.Very helpfull. I have been online and seen something but thought i would plumb the depths of your knowledge first. Many thanks in advance

Sometimes, suppliers quote the different models based on the centre height above the Cross Slide, where the Toolpost sits, or provide dimensions of the Tool Holders, so that you can work out which size you need, based on the size of the tooling that you use, and the stud that retains the Toolpost.

Hi Dave, don't know if any of these were suitable, but this is what Warco had on offer in a temporary brochure at the time they were still advertising their 220 lathe.

Rather than a QC toolpost, a single tool holder might be a better idea. I find, especially when trying to turn something slim, that the tailstock barrel often prevents the 4 way turret from approaching the work any closer than about 10 or 12 mm. This then results in canting the tool around anticlockwise whilst simultaneously rotating the 4 way turret clockwise in order to allow the tool overhand to be reduced as much as possible.

                Hi Dave,

Just seen your post. I fitted a qctp to my Warco WM240 this weekend. Let me know if I can be of help.

The Warco 220 was actually a Mashstroy made in Bulgaria and that lathe is mentioned/listed on the Lathes UK site, so info might be gleaned there…….

I have a Bison, Dickson clone fitted to my WM250 for a number of years now, apart from having to machine the boss off the casting & making a new post I have no regrets doing it,works just fine for me.
