Its a mill modelled on a Deckel and looks like a Russian `Stankoimport“, cant be certain of the model or make though.

The colour certainly looks like Stankoimport. I have used a few Stanko machines and all came really well equipped with rotary table/dividing head and vice.

In the days when Warwick machine tools sold them the service from Russian engineers was good. Electrics on the bigger machines where "interesting"

There were a few copies of the Deckel, we had an Alexander where I use to work, very nice machine.

              The Stanko is here:

Thanks for all the info folks. I'll go do a bit of research but i'm really interested in buying it.

No "Y" feed on the table, perhaps it uses the "in and out" movement of the head instead,

The hand wheel on the top right, just below the head moves the head back and forward.

Im doing an Alexander up at the moment and have it in dozens of piece , very nice mills (exquisitally made) as are anything in the Deckel mould.

The only gripe people seem to have is the small quill movement (though dont know how the Stanko quill movement compares to Deckel/Alexanders) and price of accessories (used) but they often come used with alot of accessories.

Ive also heard the Stanko parts are almost impossible to find.

Theres a Deckel FP1 on ebay at £100 last time i looked.

The £100 deckel has bits missing. I need a mill i can just use straight away, i'm not into doing machines up beyond tramming and a lick of paint maybe! Theres a deckel fp2 on there too, i'm hopefully going to look at it next week. I'm very limited in height so cannot get a turret type mill, the deckel or similar look perfect but i've not actually seen one in the flesh.
