      Hi

Does anyone out there have a schematic of the small Hoffman dividing head please? The plunger pin on mine is broken. I must be missing something simple but I cannot find a way to dissemble it. Any diagrams would be greatly appreciated.

      Thanks in advance.

          Hi Bob,

Welcome to the forum. It seems Hoffman is still in business, have you tried to contact them? Lathes.co might have a manual.

Pretty sure there will be a cross pin holding it together.

Thanks Thor. I'm awaiting a reply from them, still.

Tony, thanks also. I have extracted the top pin that holds the outer shell in place but there doesn't appear to be anything other than magic holding it together beyond that. I'm going to make one and then Mr and Mrs angle grinder will make a visit and report back for future handle lovers.

Can you post some pictures of your assembly please. I repaired one recently, and want to make sure it is the same model.

There might be an outside chance that the piece shown is one piece? If so, it may be a case of machining away the broken tip and replacing with a new one. Not a great issue, I would have thought?

I expect you may need to be seated if it is one piece and needs replacing by the manufacturer. I know of at least one tool supplier that offers ‘kits’ for around £35, but are likely metric, these days (and likely of lesser quality).

There is a wire clip that stops the plunger coming out. You need to remove the wire clip, then it will come out the bottom. That is how our one is.

Thanks Neil. I appreciate you taking time. I know which bit you are talking about.

I have one and dismantled the same bit earlier this year, for a different failure though. Does this help?

Brilliant pic Mark. How does the plunger (part 3 from the top) fit into the body (part 2)? Is it pressed? Do you have a pic of the right hand side, as we look. of both those parts please.

Ignore the small off centre hole in the top of the 2nd part down. I had to drill that to knock the remains of a broken locating pin out.

Fantastic. Thanks Mark. I'll take a look.
