We need a wireless doorbell that sounds like the old fashioned electric doorbells. The few I've seen proudly offer a number of different tunes or chimes, which we don't like, but don't include the standard old fashioned doorbell ring. Does such a thing exist?

Gary, i assume you mean "brrrrinnngggg" as opposed to "ding-dong"?

Perhaps surprisingly … 1byone has 17 patents to its name; including some for doorbells

Harry and John, yes, I mean a 'brrrrrnnnngggg', not a 'ding dong ding dong', nor a Westminster chime or any other 'tuned' noise.

You either need a MP3 doorbell so you can download your own sounds, or get a proper electric bell and a wireless controlled mains adaptor. Personall I feel you should have a proper bell pull with appropriate brass rodding down to the servants quarters.

                  regards Martin

Life is too short to worry about such unimportant things.

I recently bought what i think is an amazing door bell. It came with 2 plug in units & of course a door bell push button. 1 is in the house Completely wireless & the other way down in the bottom of the garden in my workshop.

The distance it works at is brilliant & just goes ding dong. Cheap as fish, (as chips are quite expensive these days)

                        Steve.

Trouble is, SWMBO doesn't want "ding dong". She just wants the standard 'brrrnnnng'.

I bought a wireless door bell from LIDL. It offers a range of sounds. BRINNGGG included

It would be OK indoors, but then range is short, it seems

Unfortunately, the signal does not pass well through our walls, ( Purely line of sight ) so the receiver sits under a baby alarm which signals through the mains to the shop!

I used an mp3 module with a 433Mhz remote and downloaded a traditional bell sound.

Unit sits on top of kitchen cabinet and can be heard at the bottom of the garden.

Yes – I need to get out more wink

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'll see if LIDL still has them, but if not I'll try the mp3 route.
