      Hi.

I've been doing a bit of research on model engineering for an exhibition I am planning. Everybody on the ME forum has been so helpful and knowledgable I wonder if you might be able to help me again?

I'm looking for some information on Sue O'Connor and her shop Steam Age. I've read that it was the Cartier of the model engineering world and that she may have been related to Bassett-Lowke some how. I hear that the shop closed some time ago but is she still alive? Has anybody written about her? Has her writing ever graced the hollowed pages of ME?

      best

      Jamie

In Model Engineer magazine 1989 Vol.163 issue 3852 page13, the editorial mentioned " Steam Age, Sue O'Connor retires".

There was a discussion about 'Steam Age' on the Mamod site Jamie

            Steam Age – Mamod Thread

Funnily enough – I'm sure I can recall a similar type of shop in Chiswick (along King Street somewhere) back in the late 80's (I used to work up there) and I'm sure I never ventured up into Kensington High Street. My memory may be playing tricks again of course…

            Regards,

            IanT

Thank you. It was that article that started me off actually. Did the pictures a bit further down? What a place!

I tried my ME index with no success so thank you that lead! I'll look it up next time I'm at the NRM.
