I just found the drawings for a gunmetal castings kit of an Oscillating engine named "Digger" produced by B & R Tite of Colwall, Malvern Worcs.

I bought the kit about 30 years ago, didnt build it but just getting into Model Engineering I wondered if anybody out there had built this kit, and perhaps has photos, build details etc?

      Cheers

      Chris.

Hi Bob, thanks for your response…and for making me (-: find out how to upload photos, create an album etc.

Hopefully you can see the image above, in addition I have the drawings and hopefully I can find the kit which appears to be pretty much all gunmetal from the drawing annotations.

The kit was sold by B.& R. Tite of Colwell, Malvern. I purchased it around 30 years ago, either by post or at the London model engineering exhibition. Drawings were copyright 1987.

Its a single cylinder slide valve oscillating engine according to the sales leaflet.

            3/4" Bore, 1" Stroke, O/A length 6-3/4".

Ive had no luck online finding anything but I surely can't have been the only one to have bought the kit.

            So any help gratefully received!

            Cheers

            Chris.

It's not one I have knowingly seen before and does not come up when looking through an ME index

Thanks Jason, hopefully someone else does know of it though!

I gave it a quick google and is mentioned on the fifth page (Page 41) of this "World of Model Engineering" PDF.

                      Thanks Chris I like it…!

Does the steam inlet come through the cylinder bearing? I have seen this type before but don't know if there is generic name for them, I am in the process of looking for a new project and I think this one may be simple enough to buld using stock materials…anyway thanks for sharing with us, keep us informed if you find out any more and are going to get started on it .

                      rgds Bob.

Take a look at Elmer's engine no. 42 Bob.

                        Edited to fix link

Thanks Bob, Ive looked at the drawings but am such a beginner I'm totally unqualified to answer your question, sorry.

This of course being why I'm looking for notes/photos on a previously built example.

Thanks Brian, well yes that does look similar!

                            Hava good day all!

                            Cheers

                            Chris.

Hi Bill, I really wish I could as there's not much help I can give to others at this stage, being a novice.

However as mentioned the drawings are copyright 1987 so I would be very uncomfortable publishing them online, especially as I have had a bad experience in the past. Hope you understand!

                                Cheers

                                Chris.
