      Hello –

I am looking for someone who could make some small items in brass and steel for me.

The first brass item is essentially a semi-circular arc (the size is approx. o.d.= 126mm, i.d.= 112mm, thickness = 8mm) to be cut, tapped and drilled in certain places.

The second brass item is a simple rod (say 5mm diameter and 40mm long), slightly flattened in the middle with a small hole drilled along the diameter at the centre.

The steel item is a rod about 6mm in diameter and 100mm long, tapered to a point at both ends.

This mysterious list of items are the parts necessary to repair an old demonstration gyroscope.

If you can help then – rather than add to this thread – would you please send me a message to my inbox. I can then supply further details and would be pleased to get a quote for time and materials.

(The gyroscope and I are in Rickmansworth, Herts.)

      With thanks,

      Alan.

I'll bump this as if no-one replies it might get overlooked as it slides down the list.

A picture would help, Alan. Instructions are here:

            Hi Alan,

I've made quite a few turned bits and pieces for people (and still do). I'm quite happy to throw my hat in if you want.

I'm in North Herts, so otherside of the county.

See what you think, I don't think it'll cost that much.

If you're interested send me a PM and i'll get my email over to you where we can talk details.

Thank you to Michael, Emgee and Paul who have contacted me so far.

I'll be in touch shortly with some further details.

              Best wishes,

              Alan.

This looks to me like a helpful service. I do have a very limited workshop and need parts rather often. I want to keep checking this thread,.
