Just opened the MEW site via my bookmark as usual and a page came up instead saying something like " Dear Model Engineer Visitor please complete this survey and win £75.00" I closed it straight away without going into it further. Visiting this site since has been OK so far.

Looks like a scam and I suspect it hacks the title from whatever site you open, at least I hope that is the case and not an infection on this site.

        Regards

Tried both Chrome and IE and both open this site as per normal with no problems or additions. Unless there is a hidden promotion running on MEW then you might have a problem on you system that has redirected your search to another site. Might be worth running something like Malwarebytes or similar to see if you have any PUPs or PUM. 'probably Unwanted Programmes/Malware' . These programmes can bypass some standard anti virus systems.

          Hope you get it resolved.

I'm not aware of such a 'survey' on this site.

              Hi John,
Have you checked that nothing has changed the URL in your bookmark ? Do you get taken to the same page if you enter the URL directly ?

              Les.

Update: A search of the internet suggests it is marketing malware called cdncache-a.akamaihd. Apparently it is more of a nuisance than dangerous. There is plenty of information on the net on how to get rid of it depending on the browser. A malware scan failed to find it but I tracked it down by looking at my Chrome history and it appeared after a software update carried out yesterday.

Good to know it is not a site issue
