I just bought a Hofmann 10" rotary table, there's a slight bit of backlash, any owners of one of these confirm how you can adjust this?

Is that allen screw to the right of the logo have anything to do with it?

            Yes.

The worm is located in an eccentric cartridge, so loosening that screw allows you to turn the (eccentric) worm bearing. Not only does this permit adjustment of the backlash, you can also disengage the worm from the pinion allowing the turntable to revolve freely. Useful for setting up.

As per what Simon said above, but you will find that a standard Allen key will not fit behind the hand wheel.

Get yourself a spare Allen key and shorten it so it fits in the space and then leave it there all the time.

That is what I do on my Hoffmann 8" table. They are a superbly made bit of kit and you will not be dissapointed.

Thanks for the reply Nigel,Simon, thank you for confirming that, Phil yes it seems very nice, well worth an extra 50 quid over buying a new import in my opinion.

If you have managed to get a Hofmann for only £50 more than an unknown imported one then you really have got a bargain. Well done that man.

Mine has the indexing plate attachment rather than the hand-wheel.
