Gentlemen,

I bought this tool at the GCR winter gala last weekend, I didn't know what it was or what it did but I do now. I wondered if anybody else knows or has seen one,

Could it be a sclerometer? For measuring the hardness or softness of rubber, etc ?

I am going with the test indicator.

There is a drawing for a very similar shop made one in my Popular Mechanics Lathe handbook No.1, 1925 edition.

Gentlemen,

It is a truing up indicator, early DTI, as described by the 1906 patent, which I now have a copy of, I also found it in a 1916 Brown and Sharpe tool catalogue.
