Hi all

I am trying to finally finish my 5" Boxhill in particular grate and ash Pan.

Am I missing something or does the grate really slope forward at quite an angle?

It also says that the inner fire box lip should be notched to take the grate cross bars so is it not also necessary to notch the top of the ash pan ?

Thanks for the Info. I see you have two "forks" at the front end I guess to locate the grate??

My grate is stainless steel and the bars sit on top of the cross bars as it is a welded construction from Blackgates.

My instructions which are copies from Model Engineer 1964 Say" The bottom edges of the inner wrapper being slotted to take the projecting lugs of the grate"

With regards to your steaming problem a few of my fellow members at Chelmsford have fitted Rosebud grates to various locos with a fair degree of success dont know how this would would work with a sloping grate ??
