Hope these photos not too big. Found these old lathes at Pearn's Steam World in Westbury, Tasmania during a recent holiday. Small one seems to have had recent use, others not so.

Found these old lathes at Pearn's Steam World in Westbury, northern Tasmania during a recent holiday. The small lathe appears to have seen occasional recent use, the other two appear to not have been used for some time.

Nice, The small treadle lathe looks like a pre-WW1 Drummond (UK). Looks like it would still do a turn.

My grandparents used to take us blackberry picking on Sundays around Westbury. Never saw any lathes though! (Although Grandpa's shed contained a Drummond not much newer than the one in the picture, which is still in use in my shed today.)

Did they say where the larger lathes came from? Maybe from Phoenix Foundry in Launceston or the Railways?

Hi Hopper, very little information was available on the lathes, but i imagine the larger ones probably came from one of the industries that have closed up over the last 30 years in Burnie/Devenport/Launceston or the railways.
