I think I heard a report that around 30% of deliveries to London offices are personal stuff from Amazon and some places are banning it because of the load on their in house posties. The desk next to mine gets a lot of stuff from them at least one a week – fun seeing what he has ordered.

A few years ago on a factory inspection in Korea I noted they were producing and testing our product with about 11 people on the line, but it took another 9 off the side to keep up folding the flat cardboard into a 3D box. Our boxes are custom exact fit with minimum wasted space but also designed to pack efficiently onto the pallet. Custom box design is a big and sophisticated business and can be a significant part of the product cost.

It has to be said that not all Amazon deliveries are made in oversize boxes mine seem to be appropriately sized. For example this is my most recent order.

The small box is a manufacturers original and the outer has recessed ends which held the original securely and safely, in my opinion packing appropriate to the contents.
