Watchcase back

Used my CNC to make the back of the case for my brass watch (see here)

Titanium, started out as 2.8mm thick.

Finish is super, shame that it doesn’t quite fit…

I need to measure it to figure out why, but that’s a tomorrow thing.

Suspect its a combination of things, mostly starting with me making the model from the CAD hole and forgetting that in the real world there is a need for clearance and tolerance on 2 parts which mate.

In the video, it looks like the outside is concave, the edges seem to be thicker towards the corners. Making a joint size for size also makes it a press fit, and even more difficult when the shape is rectangular and not round.

It’s concave in in direction, so it wraps the wrist more nicely.

Size for size is a CAD mistake – I just didn’t think about it properly.

However the hole it goes in is ~0.1mm per side to small (0.2mm overall). That’s suspiciously like a finish pass missing in the gcode.

The Ti is ~0.05mm oversized, which might be needing a spring pass I guess.

Not done much Ti machining.
