Thinking that I had a picture of the wiring connections for my Warco VMC mill, I stripped out all the electrics and replaced them with a new VFD/ 3-phase motor/ pendant remote control set-up. So far, so good. I then had the idea that I might re-motor my lathe, which is currently powered by a ½HP single-phase motor, with a 1HP motor, using the now redundant switchgear from the mill. Now here's my error – I didn't take any photos of the old installation before getting enthusiastic with the screwdriver, so I am limited to a wiring diagram, downloaded from the American Grizzly site for the equivalent mill manual. To be honest, it isn't much help to me, at least not without a great deal of head-scratching. The motor is a reversible single-phase 1.5HP one – too powerful for my lathe to handle, I'm assuming.

I am hoping that some kind soul will take pity on me and take a photo or two of the inside of their (standard) single-phase VMC column so that I can correctly restore the original wiring connections. Please PM me if you can help.

If not, watch out for a "For sale" entry. The set-up would be ideal for someone rebuilding/modernising an older lathe or mill.

      Thanks,

      John

I think I have the diagram for my Chester mill if that helps…?

What are are struggling with, with the Grizzly ?

Essentially, the wiring is straightforward from memory, the start winding goes to a dp rocker switch for fwd/rev….the main winding goes to the main supply via the nvr switch, mine has a transformer for the lv light….then there are two interlocks, belt lid and chuck guard..,

Thanks for the offer, John. I'll pm you with my email address. Almost all the leads from the various switches etc are labelled, but the connector blocks on the mounting board aren't. My VMC has separate push buttons for forward, reverse and stop as well as an e-stop button. That's why a photo of the connections would be useful, too. The Grizzly diagram was downloaded as a last resort.
