What size A/F is the square, Andrew ?

The answer is 1.23" AF, approximately.

Nick: I don't have a suitable diestock, but then again I haven't needed to use the linked dies yet! For this particular project the UNC bolts already exist. If I was going to make external threads I'd screwcut them on the lathe rather than use a die. I'm not sure how you'd even start a die with a that that coarse?

As an aside the rock crusher is driven by a 17MW induction motor, complete with variable frequency drive – yer not going to find that VFD on Ebay!
