Simple drawing package

Hi Guy's

Is there such thing as a simple "free" 2D drawing package I could download onto my laptop to assist me in drawing bits of my loco, Nothing fancy and easy to use ??

I am not hijacking the post just echoing Peter's question…………….

I would really like to find a simple 2D package, I used Turbocad over twenty years ago and still have the three floppy disc somewhere, apart from it crashing very frequently I was quite happy with it

I have tried Qcad and some others recommended by others on here but can't get my head around them.

If you just want a "drawing" package rather than "CAD", then you could try either OpenOffice Draw or LibreOffice Draw. (They are quite similar.) Both completely free, and IMHO more intuitive to use though more limited than "proper" CAD. They will not for example export as dxf. They do support things like dimension lines. Search using Google to find the download sites. Both will also give you free and pretty functional spreadsheet and word processing applications.

Google SketchUp is another option, I believe there is a "professional" pay for version but the basic one is free to use. Not used it myself but my Son enjoys using it.
