Are we saying that cam lock devices have a 'sweet spot', and don't lock reliably in the early stage of rotation? If so, then that doesn't tally with my own experience.
Hi I have experimented on one of my toolholder by milling the location face as I didn't like reducing the undercut on the holder. I milled off 0.5mm per face with a carbide cutter and the difference is totally different and I feel more secure with the toolholding properties
Was that 0.5mm off the horizontal face only (as seen in your photo), or did you mill the corresponding short vertical face as well (to the left of the cutter in your picture)?
Just asking for future reference as I'll need to do similar.
Hi it was from both faces I blued it out after and all four faces made contact on the toolpost, the large area and the smaller area. I calculated that the distance out was 0.7mm and that calculates at 0.5mm at 45 degrees you need to measure the difference between an original and a new one on the post and use that to calculate the cut size.
