Rather than restrict to one type of machine (a lathe, a mill), how about opening the scope right up and allow details of any machine to be written about? There will need to be a few rules so that you are not flooded with a dozen stories about people's CNC conversions of a drill mill, so I would suggest
- The item has to be a major item of workshop equipment in regular use
- Must preferably be either a brand/ model of machine that readers may not be familiar with; a good example of a restored or even still going machine no longer in production or a current model machine that has been modified to improve its performance
- Used in a way that takes advantage of the features of the machine
- And as with the lathe series, written to show the owner's history/ connection with the machine
As you can see, reading about a bog standard machine in current production is something I don't find at all interesting, but to see some of the more unusual machines scattered around the country and/ or world could be fascinating
