Thanks to all who have welcomed me to the forum.
In response to ega’s question about Myford lathes, they were, and still are typical equipment in the many small workshops around the University where I worked. For some of the smaller tasks I found it quite acceptable and I was happy to pick up a used one when the workshop was closed as a result of a reorganisation.
The small workshop I was in also had a fairly new Colchester Master which was a nice machine once I had sussed out that the cross slide had a 2.5mm pitch screw but had been fitted with a 0-2mm dial – so much for quality control !
Howard – I’m not planning on joining a local group as I already have a fairly packed diary pursuing my other interest in painting.
When I have worked out how the image albums work I will post some photos of what I am working on.
