Got these two from a load of stuff I bought in an old Ammo box. I've cleaned up lots of the other things – just starting with a new lathe and mill. These have me stuck for a use – they are very nicely finished or were when new

They look like Jones and Shipman morse taper test tapers.

what would they use them for – obviously testing tapers🤔

I'd guess they sold them to third parties and possibly used them themselves for testing tooling machined with a female morse taper socket, drill machine spindles, tail stock quills.

Or maybe machine rebuilders who would test a morse socket after removal of burrs with an internal grinder?

J&S internal morse taper gauges, the ring on the taper would indicate the correct dimensions when level with the front face of the taper.
