I have a print and digital subscription. I have not been able to view issues in the archive since I took out the subscription. If I attempt to view the archive all the issue covers are displayed OK but when I swipe one to read I get a grey screen with an info button telling me to swipe a title to read it. Well I just did didn't I? If I was a dog I would be chasing my tale.

Android tablet / Chrome. Can anyone put this old dog out of its misery? (No needle please) dont know

          Rik,

I just emulated your account and viewed the archive without any difficulty.

From your description I think you may be trying to view old subscription issues rather than the archive.

The archive is accessed using the 'magazines' link on the green band near the top of this page and depends on you having your subs number in your profile (which you have).

If this is what you are doing you may need to install a flash player.

          Neil

P.S. I will have logged you out by making this check.

I think the clue is Android which does not support Flash which you need to access the archive. I haven't been able to make it work on Android even with a browser that is supposed to have Flash. I stick to Windows on a PC for archive access.

Neil. I have both MEW and ME subscriptions and I can see MEW link when I click on the magazines link but not ME.

              Should I be able to?

Iain, You should see both if you have digital or print plus subs to both.

You don't have a subs number entered for ME which would be why you are not seeing ME

                    Hi Rik,

Try tapping the grey box once. Do not swipe. The grey box should then dissappear then you can swipe to turn the pages.

I can view them no problem with my Android based device.

                    Steve.

These tablets are a pain. I never have problems with my pc or laptop but for this visit to the midlands mex I decided to bring the cursed thing instead. So here I sit in my hotel room between visits to the fosse way today and tomorrow trying to view the archive. It shouldn't be difficult should it? Neil – I think your suggestion that a lack of flash could be a problem is correct as installing Puffin let me view the archive slooooooowly at lo_res only. Adobe flash refuses to install.

Steve, I tried that, it does not work. Never mind, there is a half decent flat screen telly in the room and a nice bottle of Scotlands finest in my napsack so for now the archive can go suck. Cheers!

                      Rik

Ps I would add that the hotel wifi is pretty speedy.

I'm pleased that i SHOULD be able to see ME in digital archive.

                        I can't.

I've kind of raised this with the support chaps (or chappesses) but not got very far.

Neil can your editorial magnificence point me to a solution

                          Easily solved.

Go to your profile and enter your ME subscription number against ME, just like you have your MEW number against MEW.

This is what you have at the moment, it won't let you view ME archive without a valid subs number:

Thank you Neil, that worked. At least I now have the link – no time before work to explore!

                            Should that have been obvious?

As a suggestion, some help text on the Magazines page to indicate how you get access would be helpful.

I dare say you get this comment a lot, but the website isn't as professional and clear as it could be, especially around the management of accounts and the like.

                            Thanks again for the pointer.

It does tell you what to do if you don't have a subscription number registered.

Unfortunately if you have one entered it assumes you can remember what you did last time

OK, however, there does seem to be a design error here. Given the average age of your subscribers, I wonder if assuming they can remember that sort of detail for a year is entirely realistic?

I say average age as if I have the stats. I don't and I may be maligning all of you. I do know that, at spitting distance of 60, I feel positively juvenile.

And if you look at competence or experience… Oops – time to change my nappy.

If you consider buying the volumes you need volumes 100-112, although due to the author's ill health there were large gaps in the write up – volume 109 had only 3 articles for example.

If you are trying to find single copies the ME index at **LINK** will help you

I know there are several excellent example of this design running, but the boiler design was unconventional to say the least and the information from the designer as to what brazing alloy to use was far from its manufacturer's advice on safe practice. The boiler was actually described as dangerous in a reply to a reader's query a few years later.
