Having never worked in a 'proper' engineering environment, I'm not qualified to comment – but do any members have a view??

Yep she could have done with jacking that rig up.first, (it looks adjustable) so that she wasn't stooping over the motor. She'll do her back no good like that regardless what PPE she's wearing!

Aha, she's on the BBC front page!

Can we have a fake porn video thread too?

I could never imagine John Major and Edwina Currie or Corbyn and Abbott in my minds eye, I really really need some visuals to help me here

Looks good to me. The blue shirt is a complementary colour to the orange engine stand and machine bulkhead to the right, as well as to the yellow handrails. Yet keys well off the blue machinery in the far background at other end of the gangway. Set amongst the neutral grey of the walls and steel flooring it all works together very well. Nicely done photo composition indeed.

Don't think it was intended as a sexist thread though lets keep the replies to a work/HSE nature please.

                          .

As for the height of the item a lot depends on what they (could be a skinny block with long hair) are doing, if lifting a component onto an assembly then would they be wanting to lift it to a height?

Agree hair could still get caught in something and should be tied up not just back.

It looks to me that the engine (presumably) is not actually being worked on but just in the process of being moved from one location to another.

Having worked in industrial engine assembly and machining the picture looks to me that the engine is either being prepared for dyno testing or has just been tested, As for the hair being loose there is nothing wrong with this in a modern manufacturing environment all rotating parts will be guarded and the chances of entanglement is remote.

I would say that where she is standing doesn't look like an assembly station it wouldn't be normal to stand working on that type of conveyor, they are usually part of an automatic travel system between processes. Probably correcting something that's gone wrong!!

Conveyor is stopped between work stations, so the operative has climbed onto track to reset something that is awry with the present fixture?

It appears to be a stock photo used to illustrate a business story in the meeja. So is probably posed. She is probably not actually doing anything other than standing where the photographer told her to. She may not even work at the factory. Could well be a model. Or your Uncle Charlie…

It's a too perfectly composed (see my previous post) and lit image to have just been a quick grab of an actual worker under typical factory lighting, even with a  camera-mounted flash.

I'm calling "fake news" on this pic.

The resolution of the image is too low to tell us anything useful.

The posture, however, suggests that she is about to take a tray of shortbread out of the oven.

… This probably tells us more about the photographer than it does about the lady's actual job.
