Coming from a Cummins

In a box of bits from a boot sale today was this. It looks to be quite old. Did they ever have these engines on boats? (Only because I like boats) I'd love to know the age of the engine it belonged to. The plunger is nice and free and I expect it would still work OK if called on to do so. When extended it is 8.5" long.

Possibly a hand oil pump to drain the sump as it's not like you can put a can under a boat engine or a fuel priming pump.

prob for fuel not eng oil……….ud need more leverage for engine oil / bigger handle like a stirup pump…..the engine oil is heavy and thick……..

It's a fuel (diesel) primer.

And Cummins diesels were/are very commonly used as marine engines.

And as to age, judging by the design of the knob, I would guess somewhere 1930's to early 50's.
