Anyone repair electric driven items?

Still looking to get my dead Proxxon angle grinder looked at – any ideas – not sending it back to Germany.

It may be worth contacting Axminster Tool & Machinery. They are distributors for Proxxon and may be able to point you in the right direction. Failing that look for a rewind shop near you they usually do small repairs as well.

Why is it "dead"? Does it have brushes that are worn out? Mine came with a spare set. If brushes are worn, could be worth trying to get replacements, ebay or maybe specialist supplier – try Google? Try to get at least an estimate of likely repair cost, it may prove more economical to chuck it and get a new one. Is it newish?could you make a faulty goods claim under consumer law or via the Cr Card issuer with which you bought it? Good luck

When I experienced similar symptoms on my Hilti drill, the problem turned-out to be mechanical … the trigger-switch was disintegrating.

First step might be to undo a few screws and have a look inside.

I see from your profile that you are in the NW. I am near Northwich which I would say is NW England and would willingly look at the tool and very probably make it work again. (PM me)

Suddenly being totally dead from being fully functional with no drama has a high likelyhood of being pretty straightforward fix.

How old is your grinder? My long neck grinder packed up out of warranty. I contacted proxxon direct regarding getting it repaired and I was sent a new one via axminster tools. They had a bad batch of these with something faulty in the motor.

I would try Proxxon. Recent experience is that they are helpful. Sent me a part for free, very satisfied.
