I’ve spent the last couple of years building a 7 1/4” gauge Britannia and estimate I’ve another two to go to complete it. I’m putting in as much detail as I can, and building as much as I possibly can. With my son  we’re making films showing the build process and this link takes you to the first.

We’re planning on making more films showing my build of a 5” 9F which I’ve been regularly using for a couple of years of public running at Guildford Model Engineering Society.  If people are interested we’ll also show my build of a 2” scale Fowler A7 traction engine and a 2 1/2 gauge Britannia.

Sounds interesting and you obviously spend a lot of time inn the workshop or work incredibly fast. Just remember when making videos that only his mother wants to see pictures of a man over 30 and on an engineering forum we just want to see the metal.

Well said sir, lots of tube stuff would be interesting at 5 minutes, but not at 50 padded out with shots of the creator waffling

Great video James. First class workmanship on display. You obviously have a real in-depth knowledge of the design, concept and purpose behind each of the components which goes way beyond just reading the drawings and shaping metal. I’m always interested in the background of model engineers and how they get drawn into our hobby. Really good stuff. And please don’t be deterred from further videos by a couple of possibly well meant but negative sounding comments. Keep on keeping on!

Great Videos and fine work – thanks for sharing!

I’d be very interested in the A7 Fowler build…

                    Cheers
