I call them teeth as it is not a gear. I need to cut what I best describe as a saw tooth to make a ratchet wheel which I will cut using a 60deg cutter, My question is if the drawing states that the diameter of the PCD needs to be 7/16″ would my calculations be right that I need a 15/32″ diameter piece to start with.

I think ratchet wheels take the PCD at the crest of the teeth so 7/16 blank.

Sorry forgot to put the tooth count in the opening post as that is part of the calculation. There are 30 teeth

Did you see my edit. as they take the pcd as teh OD tooth count won’t matter.

Just seen it. Thank you for the information at last I have some rod already at 7/16″

If it helps I get 0.025″ cut depth which leaves a very small flat top to the tooth when I set the cutter 0.020″ below ctr line
