Finally got to try and run my Red Wing, only finished it in Oct ’21. When I finished it I was waiting for a hip transplant, and as it weighs about 40 lbs I didn’t feel confident to carry it outside safely. Got the hip done last Dec so figured it was time to see if it would run.
After about 10 minutes of only the odd pop I decided that it must be flooding even though the mixer needle was only open 3/4 turn, so closed it and after turning it over a few times it fired and ran for a few seconds till the fuel in the cylinder ran out. Started then to open the needle out a bit at a time and found it would start and run reliably with it open only 1/4 turn. It now starts every time with just a flip of the flywheel over compression.
Here’s a video of it running, I hope, my first attempt at uploading a video to You Tube so excuse to quality.
