Hi everyone,

This is my first post on here. I’ve been machining on a small millenium lathe from germany for a few years and also own a small mill from the same manufacturer. Today I bought what I assume is a 1940’s – 1960’s modelmakers lathe of presumably british origin.

I thought it might be a Myford M3 off the top of my head when I saw it but now I’ve had a better look it clearly isn’t. It’s in rather bad disrepair and is missing quite a few components but the casting is still good so I thought I’d ask the hivemind and see if anyone had any idea’s.

Looks like it could ‘scrub-up nicely’

Sorry, no idea of the maker … but that hand-turning rest is unusual [and appears colour-matched], which might give someone a clue.

It looks similar to a query we had some time last year. The rear thrust bearing suggests pre-war, perhaps pre ’30s. Slightly odd to have back gear but not screwcutting.

Brass working lathe for hand graving?

Might even date to the Great War, lots of random stuff came over with the Dough Boys.
