Apologies if this is in the wrong place but doesn’t really fit with the clubs section…

Do we have and Stockport MES members on here? I am considering membership and would like to hear from you!

          Hi Steven,

I am a relatively new member of the society and have been made most welcome since joining. The club meets twice per month on a Friday evening and has its track in South Park which is on Grove Lane in Cheadle Hulme just off the Stanley Green roundabout on the A-34 right next door to Manchester Rugby club.

The club has members who have a wide range of interests including Steam Locomotives, Stationary engines, IC Engines , Hot air engines and other thins such as CNC machining.

The boys who's interest is locomotives gather at the track on Wednesdays and Sundays where rides are given to the public.

My interests are mainly, motor cycles (Vintage), IC engines and CNC but I am also interested in locomotives, having built some in the past.

The person to contact is Dave wagget who will send you the relevant application forms etc. His email address is attached below.

See you at the club some time.

          Regards,

          Bob Rodgerson

              Hi Steven,

glad to hear you have joined the Stockport Society. I am currently holidaying in the USA (Actually in Albequerque at the moment) so won't be at the next few meetings. I will try to be at the second meeting in July and I will make myself known to you. If you are interested in CNC machining you would be welcome to see the Tormach mill. I live very close to the club track so it's easy to find.

              Regards,

              Bob

                Cheers Bob.

It was trial by fire for me, a busy meeting and I was required to stand up, once to introduce myself and again to talk about the Cracker bits I’d brought along. Was good fun and the members were very welcoming and eager to see what I’d done. A couple of good pieces were shown as well, a paint stirrer, a G1 boiler, a bench grinder converted to provide drive at the tailstock end of a myford (the myford wasn’t there…) and an improved reversing handle for Juliet.

                I had a great time.

                See you there soon.
